Many people talk about AVS Video ReMaker on the web, I've downloaded it and had a try.
The description on the video edit software's web says:
- The Video ReMaker can edit MPEG files without re-encoding.
- It supports cutting unwanted parts and removing TV advertisings from DVDs or video files recorded with various PVR, DVR & DVD camcorders.
- The Video Editor provides the scene detection algorithm which saves your time by scanning video and splitting it into episodes.
- It helps you leave the scenes you need, delete the ones you don't.
Now, I'll write some of my opinions about this Video Editor.
Free install and then run AVS Video ReMaker, you'll see the interface below:

There are four buttons on the Video ReMaker's left: "Set Source", "Preview Video", "Detect Scenes", and "Create DVD Menu". The right side interface will change as the buttons switching.
There is nothing but the "Audio Track" is about Parameters settings. Even right click the inputted file, you'll find nothing. I consider that Parameters settings are necessary in video edit software. Therefore, the design of this Video Editor is not so satisfactory.
In addition, although the AVS Video ReMaker's interface looks simple, as to a beginner, it is a bit confusing. This Video Editor doesn't provide a clearly operate process; users can hardly know how to edit a video file before making a deep research.
As to the main functions, this video edit software has many highlights.
The function which attracts me most is "Detect Scenes".
The description of this function says:
Scene detection algorithm scans video and splits it into episodes. No need to preview video frame by frame trying to find transitions manually.
So this function help us divide episodes that make us can test ads in the video files. After clicking the button "Detect Scenes", the Video Editor will scan video automatically, and then list changes in the circumstances, separate the ads.

From the screenshot above we can see there are two options on AVS Video ReMaker's right: "Detect TV Commercials" and "Detect Scenes Changes". Both of the two functions are very powerful and meaningful. Nowadays, lots of videos and DVDs are inserted some ads, it will be very troublesome if we want to delete them manually. So the functions of "Detect" will be very helpful. Besides, the Video ReMaker provides one setting which can help us to adjust the detect results.
Please note, one "scene" is not equal to one frame. Usually, one scene may have many frames, while, some other scenes may have only one frame.

This video edit software provides precise choice of time and frame rate. We could preview one frame by one frame or one scene by one scene at the bottom.
Moreover, the choice of time is considerably precise.

AVS Video ReMaker's another powerful function is creating DVD Menu.
Besides choosing themes from the drop down list, we can change the background or even set custom DVD menu.

We can use the video edit software to paint, paste etc. like using windows Paint.

In a word, as to the functions, this Video Editor can indeed quickly delete the video ads and quickly delete scenes using "detect scene" function.
As for other aspects, this Video RemMaker, or we can say it a video edit software, the AVS Video ReMaker's function is a little bit single.
Finally, let's evaluate this video edit software from the performance.
Firstly, AVS Video ReMaker doesn't support inputing video files of different formats at the same time.
Secondly, this Video Editor has a strict requirement of supported video files. It may not support some files even the formats of the files are contained in the "supported format" list.
Thirdly, as it's no need to re-encoding before converting the MPEG files, the speed of converting is faster.
I have tried to edit a MPEG file. I cut down ten seconds video of the video file and got a 4'50'' video file at last. The conversion progress took less than thirty seconds. It can be said that the Video ReMaker's converting speed is very fast.

After reading my comments, would you like to have a try of the AVS Video ReMaker?
