Let's have fun configuring the new Windows Media Player 11. Start it up and notice its sleek design and bubble buttons at the top for the most common tasks. To access the classic menus (File, View, etc.), you can right-click anywhere at the top of the player and they will appear. At the bottom of the list there is an option to view the classic menus in a menu bar at the top of the player, as it used to appear in previous versions. The easiest way to access the different options is by clicking on "Tools" and then "Options." This opens a separate window with tabs for each different option.

Instructions
Things You Need:
Windows Media Player 11 (via automatic updates or manual download from Microsoft website)
Visualizations
Step 1
The media player has funky visual effects that fill up the player screen during playback. You can access the visualization from the options menu, or by clicking on "View" and then "Visualizations."
Step 2
Go back to the menu any time to change the visualizations according to your mood or the type of songs you are listening to.
Step 3
If none of the pre-installed ones suit your style, download a new one from Microsoft's website or independent sites all over the Internet.
Skins

Step 1
Examples of Skins
Change to a new skin if a big black square gets boring. You can see examples of skins at http://www.blogsdna.com/1226/download-120-free-best-windows-media-player-11-skins-wml-skin-12.htm
Step 2
Access skins from "Tools" then "Options." Find the tab labeled "Skins."
They can be simple geometrical shapes, or asymmetrical shapes like amoebas, splashes or designs depicting pharaohs, movies, anime and others.
Step 3
If you don't like the pre-installed options, find more from the link in the references below.
Plug-ins
Step 1
Every player is designed to play the most common file types. If your file is not supported, you can find an "adapter," also known as plug-ins or codecs. These need to be manually installed. Sometimes the player will tell you which plug-in you need. If it doesn't, you can search anywhere on the Internet. Microsoft has a few listed at the link below in references.
Step 2
Download your chosen plug-in. Then exit the player.
Step 3
Open up the player again. Now play the file you wanted.
