Guide of OpenOffice.org: How to create a new presentation

08/04/2009 06:49:10

The first thing we need to do is to launch OpenOffice.org Impress and create a new presentation. This will present us with the autopilot window. The autopilot is a series of screens that let us quickly set various options for our new presentation.
From here we have 3 choices; create a new empty presentation, create a new presentation from a template, or we can open an existing presentation.

Let’s create this presentation from a template. A template selection list will appear. The template we choose in this list will determine the pages that will be available by default.

OpenOffice.org 3.0

We'll select the Fictitious Financial template, then click next.

Templates let us inherit the look and feel for our new presentation from an existing presentation.

If you create lots of presentations, you'll want to create your own templates to save time and give your presentations a professional consistent appearance.

From the list of available templates, we'll choose the Fictitious Financial template.

We'll show you how to build this template later in the working smarter section of the workshop, but for now just click next and move to the next step.

The next autopilot screen can be used to specify timing for slideshows that run automatically or apply transitions – which are special effects that happen as you move from one slide to the next.

Both of these are optional, we'll accept the default values for now and click next.

The fourth screen lets enter information that will appear on the title screen. We'll skip over this part.

The final autopilot screen will let us specify the template pages to include in the new presentation. We want to include a title in the presentation so we'll leave that box checked. Then we'll click create.

The autopilot will generate the presentation.

That is the end of the guide. Download OpenOffice.org and have a try now!
