Troubleshooting - Wireless Infrastructure Mode
06/05/2008 18:25:14
  1. Please ensure that the software you are using is enabled for Infrastructure play by checking the Feature Notices on the back of the game box. Only software with the "Wi-Fi Compatible (Ad Hoc/Infrastructure)" Feature Notice is compatible with Internet (Infrastructure) play. Software with the "Wi-Fi Compatible (Ad Hoc)" Feature Notice cannot be played over the Internet.
  2. Make sure that the WLAN switch on your PSP is turned on, by pushing it up toward the left shoulder button.
  3. Make sure that your Wireless Access Point is securely connected to your broadband modem or router, and that your Internet connection is working correctly (you can test this using a computer connected to the Broadband modem, router, or the Wireless Access Point).
  4. Do you have any devices located nearby that might interfere with a wireless signal, such as:
    • 2.4 gigahertz cordless phones
    • Bluetooth wireless devices
    • Microwave ovens
    • Fluorescent lighting
    • High powered audio equipment
    • Television sets or computer monitors
    • Electronic insect "zappers"
    • Any other electronic equipment that may produce Radio Frequency (RF) interference
If so, please make sure that they are not in active use while using the PSP on a wireless network.
  5. If you are playing in a room with large pieces of metal furniture, or metal in the walls between you and your Wireless Access Point, try moving to a room with fewer physical barriers between you and your access point. Large metal objects or metal walls may interfere with, or reflect, the wireless signal.
  6. If you are having connection issues, deactivate the Power Saving feature in the PSP. Access the 'Power Save Settings' menu from the PSP System Software. Then change the 'WLAN Power Save' option to OFF.
  7. Does your Wireless Access Point support 802.11g wireless devices? If so, please make sure that it is configured either to communicate using 802.11b, or is in "Mixed Mode", so it will communicate with both 802.11g and 802.11b devices.
  8. Does your Wireless Access Point filter MAC addresses? If so, you will need to enter the PSP MAC address into the filter table as an allowed device.
  9. Try to powering off your your Wireless Access Point, router (if applicable), and broadband modem for a minimum of 2 minutes and powering back up.
