Troubleshooting - Wireless Ad Hoc Mode
06/05/2008 18:17:56
  1. Please ensure that the software you are using is enabled for Ad Hoc play by checking the Feature Notices on the back of the game box (the Feature Notice may also state that the game is enabled for Infrastructure play). Only software with the "Wi-Fi Compatible (Ad Hoc)" or "Wi-Fi Compatible (Ad Hoc/Infrastructure)" Feature Notices are compatible with Ad Hoc play.
  2. Make sure that the WLAN switch on your PSP is turned on, by pushing it up toward the left shoulder button.
  3. Make sure that all PSP systems that you are trying to connect to are configured for Ad Hoc play, using the same channel setting
    • NOTE: All PSP systems must have the same channel setting, even if the consumer is using "Automatic". For example, if one of the PSP systems' channel settings is set to "Automatic", all of the PSPs must be set to "Automatic".
  4. Try moving all players closer together. If players are too far apart, the signal between PSP systems may not be strong enough. All of the PSPs that are trying to connect together must be able to connect to all other PSPs.
  5. Do you have any devices located nearby that might interfere with a wireless signal, such as:
    • 2.4 gigahertz cordless phones
    • Bluetooth wireless devices
    • Microwave ovens
    • Fluorescent lighting
    • High powered audio equipment
    • Television sets or computer monitors
    • Electronic insect "zappers"
    • Any other electronic equipment that may produce Radio Frequency (RF) interference
If so, please make sure that they are not in active use while using the PSP on a wireless network.
  6. If you are playing in a room with large pieces of metal furniture, or metal in the walls between you and other players, try moving to a room with fewer physical barriers between you and the other players that you are trying to connect to. Large metal objects or metal walls may interfere with, or reflect, the wireless signal.
  7. Try deactivating the Power Saving feature in the PSP. Access the 'Power Save Settings' menu from the PSP System Software. Then change the 'WLAN Power Save' option to OFF.
  8. Try running an infrastructure scan (without completing the Infrastructure Mode setup). If more than 2 or 3 Wireless Access Points show during the Scan function, try using a different wireless channel for Ad Hoc mode. For example, if you are currently using channel 6, try using channel 1 or 11. If the PSP is currently using "Automatic", try setting all PSPs to channel 1.
